Daniel Akinshola
Director

Daniel began his theatre career in 1991 as an actor and quickly advanced to become a producer and director. With a background in Adult Education, Political Science, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Arts (majoring in directing and theatre for development), he went on to build a successful media career in Nigeria, directing over 200 commercials, TV shows, and the award-winning KKB Show. Holding a Master of Moving Image from the University of Sydney and a Master of Arts Education from Simon Fraser University, Daniel’s short film Voice of Blood has earned multiple international awards. He now lives in Kamloops, British Columbia, where he founded Kamloops Afro Films and One House Multicultural Communications Society.
Sally Martin
Strategic Operations

Ms. Martin brings over 15 years of diverse experience spanning the non-profit, corporate, business, and community development sectors, with a strong focus on impact storytelling. Formerly a Regional Consultant and Program Coordinator for UN Women in East and South Africa, she provided leadership on women’s economic empowerment initiatives. Holding an associate degree in Business Studies from Cambridge International, she now serves as Executive Director of Valid Dreams Foundation and volunteers with Kamloops Afro Films, supporting strategic planning, governance, and inclusive storytelling. A 2022 BC Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Award recipient, she is passionate about nature, reading, dancing, writing, and cooking.
Emmanuel Inyang
HR/Administration

Emmanuel Inyang, also known by his screen name Manuel N. Inyang, began his professional acting career in 1999, performing at renowned venues such as MUSON Centre, Terra Kulture, and the University of Lagos Theatres. A two-time president of the All Universities Gospel Theatre Artistes (AUGTHA), he advanced from actor to director with the Word On Stage Ministry, where he later served as Drama Festival Coordinator and Producer. Transitioning to film in 2016, Emmanuel appeared in Love is War and Baby Drama before founding IMA Productions and co-founding TWiM Productions, creating over 20 short films. Holding degrees in Economics and Human Resource Management, he now lives in Kamloops, BC, where he volunteers as HR/Admin Executive with Kamloops Afro Films and serves on the committee for the city’s first Black Film Festival.

Helen Pogoson
Financial controls
Helen’s love for acting and storytelling began in childhood, performing in school and church plays from age eight. Inspired by her humorous parents, she embraced comedy and later discovered her passion for expressive performance. In 2013, she expanded into professional modeling and fashion design while leading The Royal Family theatre group, which used art to promote positive character, awareness, and mental wellness. Alongside her creative pursuits, Helen works in the mental health field as an Addictions Support Worker, helping clients rebuild independence and confidence. She currently volunteers as the Financial Executive for Kamloops Afro Films, contributing her skills to community growth and empowerment.

Edgar Carriere Odeny
DOP
As a Director of Photography with a background in Theatre and Visual Arts, I bring a deep passion for capturing emotion through imagery. My career spans diverse film and photography projects, where I blend technical precision with creative intuition to craft powerful visual stories. Collaborating with directors and production teams, I focus on composition, lighting, color, and texture to evoke emotion and elevate storytelling across genres—from intimate dramas to dynamic action scenes. Embracing new technologies while staying rooted in the art of human connection, I remain dedicated to pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling that moves and inspires audiences.

Titilope Ojo
Social Media
Titilope Ojo, a passionate individual with a deep love for entertainment, discovered her passion at a young age. She found herself drawn to the world of film and performance, which led her to be featured as a background performer on the sets of two renowned film houses, Djtcasting and Madlib.
Currently, Titilope holds the esteemed position of a social media executive at Cultural Voices Film Society., where she utilises her skills and expertise to promote and engage with the audience. Her role involves managing various social media platforms, updating captivating content, and ensuring a strong online presence for Kamloops Afro films

Rofiat Kolawole (Lara)
Digital Brand Manager
Rofiat Kolawole (Lara) is the Brand & Digital Experience Manager for Cultural Voices Film Society. With a background in digital marketing and content creation, she has spent several years helping brands build cohesive visual identities and engaging online communities. At the film society, she brings her expertise to manage social media, website content, and creative campaigns, ensuring that the magic of film reaches and resonates with audiences everywhere.

Our Filmmaking Process
At Cultural Voices Film Society, we believe in the power of storytelling through film. We take pride in our pre-production process where we meticulously plan each project, ensuring that we capture the essence of the story we want to tell. During production, our team works collaboratively to bring the story to life, and in post-production, we put the final touches to make sure the film is ready to be shared with the world.
